It is recommended that all nurses have an annual appraisal. Appraisal is an important part of continuing professional development, as it allows you to reflect on your current performance and progress and to set goals for their future development. During the annual appraisals, supporting information is used to demonstrate that you are continuing to meet the principles and values set out in the NMC Code of Professional Standards. It is, furthermore, a process through which you can raise and discuss issues of concern regarding the quality of your clinical work.

What’s required;

• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
• Your current Professional Development Plan (PDP)
• A minimum of 2 Reflective Accounts
• Feedback from colleagues
• Feedback from patients (where applicable)
• Review of complaints and compliments
